To the two male drivers, one in a white pickup and another in an older sedan, who both gave me the finger when I told them to slow down 鈥� the 30 km speed limit through Anderton Park, Comox, a children鈥檚 play area, is set for a reason. When a child runs onto the road from the park or from in front or behind a parked car and the driver is unable to avoid hitting the child, if the car is travelling at 30 km/hr, the child will likely survive. If the car is travelling at 40 or 50 km/hr the child will likely die. I have witnessed a child doing exactly what I have mentioned, and it was fortunate there were no cars proceeding through that park at that time. Please consider how you would feel of you struck and injured or killed a child because you refused to pay attention to a very clear sign that showed your speed as you entered the park zone.

After a long day at work, then trying to finish a backyard project, my husband, on his second trip to Home Depot lost his wallet in the parking lot. While my husband was retracing his steps and checking with customer service, Cheryl was on my doorstop making sure the wallet made it home safely and intact. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to drop it off at our home. So nice that we have thoughtful people who live in our community.

A big flaming beef to the person who thought it was a good idea to throw a lit cigar butt out the car window into dry bark mulch next to a gas station on Comox Ave. on Sunday afternoon. In two minutes it turned from a tiny wisp of smoke to a smoldering eight inch circle. This year鈥檚 fire season will be bad enough without people throwing burning objects at flammable material near explosive liquids. Give your head a shake.

To see the dairy cattle at Birkdale Farm on Guthrie Rd. basking in the sun, or chillin鈥� in the shade and doin鈥� what they otta outside, is food for the soul and healing for digital sore eyes. God bless the farm owner and the creatures he cares for.

Someone in Foxxwood is dropping their bag of dog poop in my yard-waste can while it sits out for garbage collection. I鈥檝e caught a bag on top of my yard clippings. And I just found a bag in the empty garbage can when I brought it up from the curb. Do you think you can hold onto your own s*** until you get to your house?

I have a big beef with businesses that fly Canadian flags on top of their buildings that are ripped to shreds. Total disrespect for our flag, and considering we are in a military town, disrespect for our service members. Do the right thing and either take the old one down, or buy a new one.

A big bouquet of appreciation to the nurses and doctors working in Emergency at the North Island Hospital Comox Valley on May 13 and 16. A kidney stone attack sent me twice in great distress to Emergency, and the kindness, caring and efficiency of everyone there helped me through this ordeal. Many thanks to all.

I have a beef about taxi drivers who foul-mouth other drivers they believe to be making poor moves. As if no taxi driver ever makes a driving error. A taxi pulled up alongside me in Thrifty鈥檚 parking lot in Courtenay and the driver rolled down his window to berate me as he said I 鈥渃ut off鈥� another driver when I pulled out of my parking spot. His tone was obnoxious and he added insulting names to his complaint. I do shoulder check and consider myself careful, so I obviously was not aware if I did or did not put others at risk. I may not be perfect but I have a spotless driving record. However, his tone of voice and language were rude, unnecessary and thoroughly unpleasant. It puts me off the prospect of phoning for a cab. Venting anger on to unsuspecting people does nothing to help either the person on the receiving end of the vent - or to the person venting, who has to live with himself long after the incident is over.
