CLARIFICATION: Letter about KFN funding printed after Comox council reconsidered motion

web1_200506-cvr-comoxtownhall_1

A letter to the editor from Pat Carl, titled Resident disgusted with Comox council for denying KFN a grant ran in the ̨ÍåMMÂãÁÄÊÒ online, May 22.

The letter complained about council voting against a motion at its May 1 meeting to provide the K’ómoks First Nation (KFN) with $2,500 in support of National Indigenous People’s Day celebrations.

The Town of Comox reached out to the Record to point out that the motion was revisited at the May 15 meeting, and the grant was unanimously approved.

It must be noted that Pat Carl submitted the letter to the editor on May 12, prior to the revisitation of the motion, and thereby did not know about the May 15 decision.

There was not enough room to run the letter in the May 15 edition, so it was automatically deferred to the May 22 edition.

The Record apologizes for any confusion caused by this letter.
