The Comox Valley Farmers’ Markets (CVFM) and the North Vancouver Island Culinary Association (NVICA) want to take things ‘back to the basics at its late summer Foodfest this year.

As part of its commitment to promote, support and educate about local agriculture, CVFM & NVICA are hosting an information session at its Saturday market on Headquarters Road on Aug. 26. Rather than just cooking and serving CVFM vendor’s products as we have in the past, we want to share the wealth of knowledge that our Valley chefs have for menu planning, cost-cutting, in-season buying and making the best use of our local producers.

While we will be focusing on all these subjects, we will also be sharing basic recipes. The shift in focus has been brought forward in response to the rising costs of food & the inability of some of our most vulnerable households to eat healthily.

The festival will be held on the south side of the market, starting at 10 a.m.
