On Sept. 7, the Marine Services Building at the Comox Marina officially opened.

Courtenay-Comox MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard, Brodie Guy, Island ̨ÍåMMÂãÁÄÊÒ Economic Trust CEO, Comox Mayor Nicole Minions and members of the council officially opened the building at a ribbon-cutting event.

The new building was funded by the Government of Canada through PacifiCan’s Canada Community Revitalization Fund, the Province of British Columbia through their Community Economic Recovery Infrastructure Program, and Island ̨ÍåMMÂãÁÄÊÒ Economic Trust’s Capital and Innovation Program.

The Marine Services Building addressed the lack of retail space and community services at the Comox marina by providing three retail spaces, public barrier-free washrooms, and a visitor information kiosk. This increased capacity supports tourism-related businesses, creates jobs, and provides long-term economic growth for the region.
