Comox Valley Schools announces new board positions for 2024-2025

SD71 chair Michelle Waite and Cumberland trustee Sarah Jane Howe will be chair and vice chair this year at Comox Valley Schools.

The board of Comox Valley Schools has acclaimed a new chair and vice chairperson, and new representatives for provincial associations.

Trustee Michelle Waite was nominated and acclaimed to the Chair position, and trustee Sarah Jane Howe will be taking on the Vice Chair position at the board. In addition,Trustee Shannon Aldinger has been acclaimed as the Board representative for the BC School Trustees Association (BCSTA), with Trustee Cristi May Sacht acclaimed as the alternate.

Trustee Chelsea McCannel Keene was acclaimed and will serve as the Board representative for the BC Public School Employers' Association (BCPSEA), with Trustee Janice Caton being acclaimed to serve as the alternate.

“Our Board is committed to continuing our work supporting students, staff, and families in our community and to ensuring the ongoing success of our students,” said Waite. “I am also looking forward to working with our rights holders and partners on the new strategic plan, which will help guide the future of education in the Comox Valley.”
