The Cowichan Performing Arts Centre has an eclectic month of events planned for March that will surely make every arts enthusiast feel that the luck of the Irish is upon them. From the power of spoken word to AC/DC tribute PWR/UP, mind readers, music, films and fiddles will certainly string together another month of exceptional events for all lovers of the arts.

On March 1, at 7:30 p.m., the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre kicks off the first month of spring with spoken word. Shane Koyczan, a street poet from Vancouver's downtown east side will show audiences the power of words as he weaves his pieces together in a spellbinding narrative. Koyczan caught the world's attention with a glimpse of his prodigious talent in 2010 with his presentation at the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
He has collaborated with artists such as Ani DiFranco, Dan Mangan, Tanya Tagaq, and several others.
Tickets are $45, or $28 for students.

On March 3 at 6:30 p.m., come experience all of the young talent in the Cowiichan Valley as the Cowichan Music Festival celebrates its 76th year.
Their annual 'Highlights Concert' will once again feature the best student performances in band, dance, singing, musical theatre, as well as instrument solos. Tickets are $20, or $10 for students.

On March 9 at 7 p.m., march to the beat of your own drum at the movies as Orca Cove Media presents Sweet Summer Powwow.
Sweet Summer Powwow follows 17-year-old Indigenous couple Jinny and Riley who find each other on the Pow Wow circuit in British Columbia where thousands of singers, dancers, drummers, and vendors congregate at a new location across the province every weekend. This is an opportunity for them all to celebrate their culture, visit with relations, meet new friends, and especially, to fall in love.
Jinny's diabetic mother Cara, who is Chief of the Coyote Lake Tribe, expects her to get a law degree, return home and follow in her footsteps, but her true passion lies in dance — not Indigenous fancy dancing, but contemporary. When Jinny meets Riley the two become mesmerized by each other.

If you were looking for something out of the ordinary and magical this month CPAC may have been reading your mind.
On March 14 at 7:30 p.m., Sin City Illusions presents Banachek: The World's Greatest Mind Reader with Mind Games.
The Las Vegas mentalist has performed on major TV shows such as CNN Live, the Today Show, and has produced more than 100 TV shows for Criss Angel. Banachek has won numerous awards and is sought out as a consultant by most major magicians and mentalists across the world including Penn & Teller, Angel, and David Blaine.

On March 15, at 7:30 p.m., country fans will want to round up their 'Friends in Low Places' for Standing Outside The Fire: A Garth Brooks live country experience.
Backed by a seven-piece band, Vancouver Island’s own Wayne Montgomery brings his high energy showmanship and the best of Brooks as he emulates the country superstar to a tee. For the last 15 years, Montgomery has been delighting audiences with the music of Garth Brooks. Tickets are $50.

Something special is happening much sooner than midnight on March 20 at 7:30 p.m., as Creedence Clearwater Remembered: A True Rock and Roll Story recreates the energy and vibe of CCR right before your eyes on the CPAC stage.
The fascinating and tragic tale of CCR, will be brought to life as the award-winning band El Niven plays CCR's greatest hits and recounts stories of egos, lawsuits, brother against brother, and a band that changed music forever. No audience member will be 'Feelin Blue' as acclaimed singer El Niven effortlessly channels the energy and spirit of John Fogerty through his pwn powerhouse vocals. Niven is backed up by an all-star band of musicians with more than a dozen CCMA awards between them.

Join Disney's Frozen princesses for two performances of storytelling and sing along for a perfect family outing for kids of all ages. Show times are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and little ones are encouraged to dress up as their favourite Frozen character. On March 28 at 7:30 p.m., get 'Thunderstruck' and charge up your weekend plans with PWR/UP The AC/DC Tribute Concert.
The dynamite duo of Bon and Brian bring all the swagger and character that has made AC/DC unique for decades. On March 30 at 7:30 p.m., Celtic music fans will have the world on a string as Canada's internationally renowned virtuoso fiddlers Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy take their music to new heights with their 'Four on the Floor' tour.
As they burst onto the music scene with exuberant youthful mastery, the talented couple's two eldest children Mary Frances and Michael Leahy will be joining their parents for a night of musical magic. Tickets are $55.

Looking for alternatives to wind down the month? How about a night at the movies with Reel Alternatives as they present the drama All We Imagine as Light on March 31 at 7 p.m. The film follows Mumbai's Nurse Prabha whose routine is troubled when she receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband, all while her younger roommate Anu tries in vain to find a spot in the city to be intimate with her boyfriend. Tickets are $17.
