The Mt. Washington Ski Club is thrilled to welcome young alpine skiing athletes to the Teck Coast Zone U14 Races this coming weekend at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. These races promise excitement, skill, and great competition as athletes aged 12 and 13 from across the Coast Zone showcase their abilities on the slopes.

The event will feature two thrilling days of racing, with athletes competing in a Giant Slalom (GS) on Saturday and a Slalom (SL) on Sunday. Each race will consist of two runs, giving competitors the chance to test their speed and precision on Whiskey Jack, Mount Washington’s premier race run.

Over 130 athletes from renowned ski clubs such as Whistler, Cypress, Grouse, Seymour, Sasquatch, and Mount Washington will be vying for podium finishes. These athletes, hailing from Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Sea to Sky Country and Vancouver Island, represent some of the best in this age group and have been training hard to achieve success this season.

“This weekend is a celebration of alpine skiing and the incredible dedication of these young athletes and their coaches,” said Michael Dingle, President of the Mt. Washington Ski Club and the Chief of Race. “It’s also a fantastic opportunity to showcase alpine skiing on Vancouver Island, the Mount Washington Alpine Resort, and the support of our amazing volunteers who make events like this possible.”

The Mt. Washington Ski Club will proudly enter a strong team of athletes, aiming to make their mark on the podium while welcoming competitors from across the zone. With the energy and excitement of ski racing, spectators are encouraged to come watch and experience the action firsthand.

This event is made possible through the dedicated efforts of over 100 volunteers, and the fantastic facilities provided by Mount Washington Alpine Resort.

The schedule sees two runs being done on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for the Giant Slalom and two runs being done on Sunday for the Slalom at 9:15 a.m..
