The KidSport Cup is back for its 12th annual fundraising event - this year the event will be on Sunday March 30 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
鈥淭he MMHL (Monday morning hockey league) are grateful to once again be involved with the Kidsport Cup. This is our 12th year of having our highlight game as a fundraiser for this wonderful local group鈥�, says Shawn Vincent, organizer of the event. 鈥淲e鈥檙e all looking forward to a great game with everyone having fun while raising funds for the kids and families right here in the Comox Valley. Come on out and support the kids!鈥�
KidSport Comox Valley is a local charity that provides grants for Sport registration for children in our community with financial barriers that may keep them from participating.
鈥淚n 2024, we gave out almost $32,000 in grants - our highest granting year ever. In January of this year, we already distributed over $8,000 in grants. The need is high and with the current economy, we don鈥檛 see that slowing down anytime soon鈥�, says Jana Letain, Chair of KidSport Comox Valley.
Every single dollar raised in the Comox Valley stays in the Comox Valley, helping local kids participate in sport.
The most commonly funded organizations that KidSport funds in the Valley are Comox Valley United Soccer Club, Comox Valley Raiders Football, Comox Valley Minor Hockey Association, Chimo Gymnastics, Rapids Rugby, and Comox Valley Lacrosse.
