The Canadian Coast-to-Coast women’s hockey team are relishing their recent victory at the USA Hockey Adult National Championships in Tampa, Florida.
Among the five players who took part in the action was Courtenay’s own Michele Claveau.
The team went undefeated in the 60+ women’s division against three U.S. teams, winning 6-0 vs. the Really Old Jets, 5-0 vs. the Cape Cod Black Dogs and 3-2 in overtime vs. the Minnesota Lady Slippers. The team re-met Minnesota in the final, winning 3-0 to clinch the 2025 Championship title.
Coast-to-Coast is a collective of Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Powell River and New Brunswick players. Other players included Suzi Wiebe of Powell River, Liza Furney of Port Hardy, Sue Maltby and Tracy Hurley of Nanoose Bay. The team was coached by Mal Stelck of Parksville.
These women are also members of the Zone 2 Tsunamis Storm team, competing in the upcoming 55+ BC Games hosted in Nanaimo, Sep 9-13, 2025.
