The Comox Valley Regional District recently launched a Regional Growth Strategy Performance Monitoring Dashboard to help monitor the progress of the eight RGS goals.

With the ongoing wet weather, BC Hydro is extending its public safety advisory to stay away from the Puntledge River with the higher flow conditions through Jan. 23. Temporary safety signage that’s been placed along the river to advise of the dangerous river flows has been updated with the date extension.

Courtenay residents included in the city’s residential curbside collection program can now participate in weekly food waste collection – a new service for the city – within the recently launched organics program. This new waste diversion opportunity is in part thanks to the completion of the new Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) Regional Compost Facility.

To be eligible for enrolment into kindergarten, a child must be five years of age by Dec. 31.

The Comox Strathcona Waste Management service is growing its food and yard waste program. Beginning in the New Year, CSWM will receive organic materials from an expanded partnership with the City of Campbell River, City of Courtenay, Town of Comox and Village of Cumberland.

The founder of the Merville Water Guardians appeared before rural directors Monday to oppose approval of an amendment to a water bottling licence for a property at 2410 Sackville Rd. in the community north of Courtenay.

Hydro is issuing a public safety notice to stay away from the river with the high and dangerous flows from the evening of Jan. 6 through 13. Temporary safety signage has been placed along the river.

The Comox Valley Regional District will undergo borehole repair work along select sections of Comox Road, Comox Hill and along Balmoral Avenue on Friday, Jan. 6 to refill holes that settled as a result of drilling work as part of the Sewer Conveyance Project.
