My name is Jim Benninger and I am the BC Liberal candidate for Courtenay-Comox. I want to tell you a little about myself and what I want to accomplish in our community.

My name is Ernie Sellentin, your BC Green Party candidate for the Courtenay-Comox riding. I am running for the BC Greens because we need meaningful change in this province. Both the Liberals and NDP represent the status quo: the same old ideas, the same ties to donors and special interest groups, the same policies that favour big business. I intend to represent you and the issues that affect you.

The Feb. 2017 Auditor General’s Report says B.C. is the most indebted province in Canada…but the Liberal Party says they are balancing budgets and everything is great. It’s that kind of high-handed, lie-to-you-with-a-straight-face attitude that compelled Leah McCulloch to run for office.

The Comox Valley’s been my home for 27 years. I’ve been involved as a community activist, worked with environmental non-profit organizations, and served as an elected Courtenay councillor for nine years. My husband and I raised our two children here. After seeing the erosion of the community you and I care about, it is time to build a better B.C.

At Monday’s meeting, Courtenay council approved second reading of a rezoning to allow a liquor store at 1599 Cliffe Ave., next to the new Thrifty Foods that had previously been occupied by Safeway.
