Proponents hope for new arrangement to replace current ‘sinking fund’

Courtenay’s growth and municipal services will be guided by an updated vision, following council’s adoption of a new Official Community Plan (OCP) on Monday, July 25. The adoption followed a public hearing in June and other bylaw procedures, and concludes nearly three years of research, analysis and consultation with community partners and the wider community on what’s important to Courtenay now and in the future.

In an effort to reach a compromise between auto racing fans and residents wanting peace and quiet, the Comox Valley Regional District has proposed a solution to address ongoing noise complaints about Saratoga Speedway.

Regional district directors awarded Tuesday a three-year contract to the Comox Valley Transition Society (CVTS) for the Victim Services project. The amount is not to exceed $105,000.
