CAF to conduct parachute training at 19 Wing Comox

The Canadian Forces School of Search and Rescue (CFSSAR) will conduct parachute recertification training for Search and Rescue (SAR) Technicians at 19 Wing Comox. Comox residents may hear a Skyvan aircraft flying overhead, and see parachutists jumping regularly between Aug. 22 and 26.

International Awareness Day to shed light on toxic drug crisis

The Comox Valley Community Action Team (CAT) will draw attention to the drug toxicity crisis at International Awareness Day, Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Simms Park in Courtenay. The noon to 4 p.m. event will include speeches, performances and a memorial for loved ones. There will also be an educational component in terms of harm reduction and naloxone training.

Curbside collection changes coming for Courtenay

Over the next two years, changes are coming to the residential curbside collection service in Courtenay. These changes are aimed to increase the overall diversion of waste in the region, with a focus on organic waste diversion. Curbside organic services will start in 2023, followed by automated collection services in 2024. These service changes support the policy objectives of the BC Climate Action Charter, and are part of the city’s commitment to adapt and address climate change.
