A guided tour of Millard Nature Park will be put on by Youth and Ecological Restoration (YER) in August.
The event takes people through the mature second-growth forest with large Douglas fir trees. Two youths will lead the tour and explain what they have learned about the park. Their findings will be used to assist the city with future park planning.
Millard Park is located at the south end of Courtenay and has several habitats including Millard Creek which has coho, pink and chum salmon swimming in it. Biologist Tanis Gower is leading the 2024 YER Phase II research project, guiding the youth and providing the city parks staff with a report on the park.
The tour starts at noon on Aug 2, meeting at the entrance to the park on Anfield Road.
