The town of Comox has informed the public to me aware of poisonous mushrooms being spotted near Filberg Park. The mushrooms look similar to some edible mushrooms from Asia.
Death Cap mushrooms are a high health risk in urban environments as they are extremely poisonous. Eating them can lead to liver and kidney damage or even death.
The town reminds the public to be aware of what they are consuming and never eat anything you can not positively identify as an edible species. The town also warns to keep children and pets away from potential hazardous plants.
