From Dec. 7 to 8, hundreds of students from various schools in the Comox Valley are joining forces to partake in this year鈥檚 Everybody Deserves A Smile (EDAS) campaign.

Their goal is to assemble care packages that will subsequently be handed out to our province鈥檚 homeless communities.

The initiative aims to create a total of 1,500 packages by the end of Dec. 8.

Chantal Stefan, EDAS founder and Grade 1 teacher at Ecole Puntledge School says that this year鈥檚 event has garnered remarkable support from students, staff, and parents alike.

鈥淚t鈥檚 been incredible so far,鈥� says Stefan. 鈥淲e popped up and set up quicker than we ever had before. We probably had about almost 60 people helping us.

鈥淭he kids are doing an incredible job.鈥�

Throughout the afternoon of Dec. 7, the Just in Time Choirs cheerfully entertained waves of students with various Christmas classics.

Expressing gratitude to all who participated in this year鈥檚 EDAS, whether through financial, material, or time contributions, Stefan proudly announced that the event successfully achieved its ambitious goal at the last minute.

鈥淲e just needed seven scarves, and somebody had some material, and they made scarves for us,鈥� says Stefan. 鈥淏ecause of everybody working together, we have reached all our goals (of) 1,500 scarves, pairs of gloves, toques, and socks. A huge thank you to everybody in the community.鈥�
