An estimated $100,000 worth of works by renowned painter Ken Kirkby will be distributed in early Sept. in an event called “Paintings, By the Numbers.” The lot of paintings were donated to the society prior to Kirkby’s death in June 2023.

“We are honored to receive such a generous contribution,” said Caila Holbrook, Project Watershed’s Manager of Education, Fundraising and Outreach.

The event will celebrate Kirkby’s life, sponsored by the investment firm Odlum Brown, and will be held on Sept. 14 on the enclosed patio at 40 KNOTS Winery in Comox.

“The main activity of the event is the Art Draw, which combines the thrill of getting a good deal with the warm fuzzy feeling of contributing to environmental stewardship”, said Holbrook.

Also available at the event will be commemorative prints of Kirkby’s most famous painting, “Isumataq” which helped create Nunavut. All funds raised will support Project Watershed’s ecological restoration, research and education projects.
