An 18-year-old hiker was rescued Saturday by Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue near Diver’s Lake following an injury to his foot.
The hiker was with a party of four who stopped along their route in Strathcona Park for a break. According to CVGSAR, during the break, one member of the hiking party utilized a hatchet to cut a hiking stick for himself, and in the process, he nearly severed toes on his right foot.

Members were transported to the trailhead of Rossiter Lake and the hiked in with the kayak to Diver’s Lake.
A second team travelled in via Grizzly Helicopters.
The kayak team reached the hiker, provided first aid and moved the hiker to an area where the helicopter was able to evacuate the subject.
The man was then transferred to BC Ambulance. There is no update on his condition.
