The Tour de Force is part of Cops for Cancer program which combines first responders in a fundraiser for supporting children and families living with and beyond cancer through a long distance bike ride. Comox Valley’s own Constable Keeley Deley of the RCMP will be taking part.

The police agencies and emergency service personnel will cycle for 14 straight days and cover 1200km in an aim to bring awareness and funds to children and families affected by cancer

"I am honored to represent the amazing people of the Comox Valley and all those who support this crucial cause," said Deley. "My goal is to reach as many people as possible in this journey of raising funds for children affected by cancer."

Funds raised from Tour de Rock will support the Canadian Cancer Society to further new research in pediatric cancer. Also, the donations will help send 600 kids to Camp Goodtimes every year which is a medically-supervised camp for children and tennis affected by cancer.

"One child with cancer is one child too many," Deley emphasized. "To take on cancer, it takes every one of us."

Deley currently trains every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The community is encouraged to show their support if you see her out riding.

Tour de Rock starts in Port Alice on Sept. 21 and concludes in Victoria on Oct. 4.
