Const. Paul Jones will take part in the Wounded Warrior Run.

A dedicated member of the Comox Valley RCMP detachment is stepping up to support first responders and military personnel through the Wounded Warrior Run BC.

With 23 years of service in the RCMP, Const. Paul Jones, currently attached to the Street Crimes Unit, will take on the challenge as part of a team running the length of Vancouver Island to raise awareness and funds for mental health programs supporting veterans, first responders, and their families.

Having served in Ontario, Vancouver, and Surrey as a drug investigator, in a Serious Crime Unit, and on the front lines of some of B.C.’s most challenging communities, the officer has witnessed firsthand the mental and physical tolls of the job.

“The Wounded Warrior Run for me represents the marriage of a worthy cause coupled with a physical challenge, which I am honoured to be a part of,” said Const. Jones. “With a twin brother who is a firefighter, I have seen how the demands of public service affect not just the individual, but their loved ones as well.”

Inspector Scott Mercer, Officer in Charge of the Comox Valley RCMP, commended the officer’s commitment: “Policing is about service, and that extends beyond the uniform. This run is not only a physical and mental challenge but a meaningful way to support first responders and military personnel who have sacrificed so much. We’re proud to have one of our own representing the Comox Valley RCMP in such an important cause.”

The Wounded Warrior Run BC raises funds to support mental health programs specifically for first responders and military personnel and their families. All money raised on Vancouver Island stays on Vancouver Island.

The Comox Valley RCMP encourages the community to support the Wounded Warrior Run BC by donating, cheering on participants, or spreading awareness about the mental health challenges faced by those who serve.
