With “thousands of visitors” flocking to the 59th edition of Comox Nautical Days last month, organizer Susan Wood told Comox council Wednesday the committee is already gearing up for a special 60th edition of the festival next summer.
At Wednesday’s council meeting, Wood presented a recap of the festival – which took place the B.C. Day long weekend at Marina Park – and added Comox Nautical Days is the “quintessential community festival,” as it featured 171 local performers, and a majority of craft booths, food vendors and exhibitors were local.
With plans underway already for the “diamond jubilee” celebration next year, Wood explained the organizers are preparing a proposal for additional funding to enhance the entertainment and other special programming initiatives.
