Cumberland has put out the call for nominations for the by-election happening on Sept. 21. Nominations can be made until 4:00 p.m. on Friday Aug. 16. Applications for nominees opened on Aug. 6. 

Candidate nominations can be found on the village of Cumberland website as they are received from Aug. 6 to 16. Nominees have to fit the following criteria: have been a resident of B.C. for at least six months proper to submitting nomination forms, be 18 years or older on general voting day, be a Canadian citizen and not be disqualified under any enactment from voting or being elected to office or disqualified by law. 

Mail Ballot Voting will be available for the by-election. You may apply to vote by mail ballot beginning Thursday August 22, 2024.

Interested parties can call the Cumberland village office at 250-336-2291 or email info@cumberland.ca to make an appointment to submit your nomination with the deputy Chief Election Officer.

The election will be held on Saturday Sept. 21 with advanced voting available on Sept. 11 and 18.
