September lineup unveiled for the first Victoria fest in four years

The Fat Oyster Reading Series returns to Fanny Bay Hall on Thursday, May 12.

The Comox Valley Concert Band鈥檚 annual Mother鈥檚 Day Concert on May 8 will celebrate 75 years of live music in the Valley.

Artist Ed Varney reflects, 鈥淓veryone is a stranger to everyone else, really, and sometimes we are even a stranger to ourselves, so this allows a kind of existential element to creep in.鈥�

The inaugural Comox Valley International Film Festival (CVIFF) takes place May 12-15 at North Island College鈥檚 Stan Hagen Theatre in Courtenay.

Running from May 5-28, Visionaries is a showcase of art by the senior secondary students of Mark R. Isfeld, G.P. Vanier and Highland high schools.

Three local writers will provide a public reading at the Comox Valley Art Gallery on Friday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m., as the Gallery continues to present its thematic program 鈥淩eturn to Water.鈥�

Following the release of their electrifying new album, Make A Scene , award-winning roots-pop outfit, Sweet Alibi, are hitting the road, bringing their songs to life on stages across Canada, and Fanny Bay is one of only two Island stops on the tour.

The North Island College鈥檚 School of Fine Art + Design welcomes the public to a showcase of visual art, and tours of NIC鈥檚 fine art and design studios.
