The Tree of Life art installation, performance and meditation on June 23 and June 24 at the Denman Island United Church celebrates both the physical tree in our world and the tree as an ageold metaphor for our inner transformation.

The Tree of Life art installation, performance and meditation on June 23 and June 24 at the Denman Island United Church celebrates both the physical tree in our world and the tree as an ageold metaphor for our inner transformation.

Our landscape is rich with beautiful trees and many of us have personal narratives that speak to our deep connection to trees. We depend on trees to support life, and they provide so much for us in their physical bounty. They also inspire us in art and spirit.

The tree with its strong balance -with its reaching crown and deep roots- is a perfect metaphor for the human experience of uniting spirit and body.

It is fitting that the tree is the template that maps all species of the world, is the diagram for our families, and is the symbol at the root of many cultures and religions.

Wendy Pope and Sussan Thomson were inspired to co-ordinate this event following a study of the Qabalah Tree of Life and their creation of an art piece to support their practice.

They love the expanse of the Tree which explains how spirit becomes manifest into form, and where all ideas and beliefs find a place.

Their experience has consistently been that interacting with and embodying The Tree of Life awakens the divine energies contained within it.

They hope to create an artistic experience for viewers to share in that relationship.

Other contributing artists will bring their own creative motivations, all centered around the tree and the Tree of Life. artists include: Hari Amrit, Nichola Clark, Kerri Davis, Michael Dennis, Devmurti, Randy Duncan (recorded music), Mica Gries, Shannon Ford and Denis Peltier, Jennifer Lee, Maxine Matilpi, Cynthia MInden, Laurie Montemurro, Laura Pope, Brigit Salas, Bev Severn, Cathy Stoyko, Nicole Tritter, United Church Choir and Janine Walton.

The art installation, performance and meditation is set for 7:30 p.m. on both evenings. Tickets are $15 at Abraxas/ DI General Store

Seating is limited; art installation viewing only is set for June 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. by donation at the Denman United Church 4575 Denman Road.
