The Comox Valley Art Gallery is recruiting applicants for the Youth Media Project, a unique opportunity that pays wages to youth under 30 while they receive training and work experience in video production, sound design, and other media skills.
During the program, participants learn skills, produce their own videos, and undertake seven-week job placements.
“The Youth Media Project is a great chance for young people to get paid while they learn valuable skills and develop deeper connections to the community,” said team leader Krista Tupper.
To be eligible for the program, participants must have a demonstrated interest in art and video, not be working or attending school full time, and not be on Employment Insurance. Participants will be paid minimum wage for 30 hours a week if accepted.
The program starts Sept. 18 and runs to Dec. 15.
There will be an information session on Thursday , Sept. 7, 5:30 p.m. at the Comox Valley Art Gallery, 580 Duncan Ave. in downtown Courtenay. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
The deadline for applications is Friday, Sept. 8. To apply, send an e-mail to Krista.cvagymp@gmail.com or drop off a letter of application to CVAG.
The letter should describe the applicant’s reasons for applying, work and school experience, and how this program would nourish their future.
