The Canada Day organizing team is excited to announce Canada Day’s Night Before concert headline performer, indie pop/rock band Yukon Blonde.
The concert takes place on Friday, June 30 in the evening at Lewis Park.
Yukon Blonde, based in Vancouver, features Jeffrey Innes (lead singer, chief sonic architect), Brandon Scott (guitar, vocals), Graham Jones (drums, vocals) and James Younger (bass, vocals). Formed in 2008, the band has evolved from a folk-rock-minded debut to a confident and diverse mix of dance-rock and synth pop. Following their 2012 release Tiger Talk, they received a Juno award nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year.
Their new single Up 2 U is a classic bop you’d see in Soul Train or even the Muppets. Their live show is notoriously vivacious and features both alluring melodies and absorbing stories, making this band’s performance truly compelling.
The Night Before Concert kicks off at 5:45 p.m. with Dolyna Dancers, Laurie Tinkler Dancers, Moonshine Band (energetic country) and Rock Cod (Celtic traditional and modern tunes) and more.
Yukon Blonde takes the stage at 9 p.m.
