Over a dozen talented musicians, dancers and other performers in the Comox Valley had their moment in the spotlight on Feb. 4 for Vancouver Island’s newest talent show competition.
The first round of the Who’s Got Talent? competition was at the Comox Recreation Centre on Sunday. The event showcased singers, musicians and dancers of all ages.
“This Valley is so full of talent. So having the opportunity and a stage to show off whatever talents you have is what this contest is designed to do,” said Susie McGregor, one of the organizers of the competition.
McGregor said video submissions are still being accepted until March 1. Submissions can be from anywhere on Vancouver Island.
More than 30 performers have auditioned so far, either in person on Sunday or through video submissions.
The semi-finals will take place at the same venue on March 4, while the final round will be held at the Sid Williams Theatre in downtown Courtenay on April 15. McGregor said 20-25 performers will get to perform at the Sid.
The grand prize of $500 will be voted on by the audience.
“There’s going to be prizes in each category as well. We have some recording at Aurora Studios for the best singer,” said McGregor. “We’ve got certificates from Comox Recreation, we’ve got certificates from Games & Grounds coffee shop.
“We try to celebrate as many people as we can and put out as many awards as possible.”
