Both Spiritbox, a heavy metal band from Victoria, and Mother Mother, a rock band from Quadra Island are in the running for two Juno awards this year and will be going head-to-head in one category.
Both Spiritbox and Mother Mother are nominated for Group of the Year, alongside Crash Adams, Sum 41 Rise and The Beaches.
Spiritbox's second nomination is for Best Metal/Hard Rock Album, competing against Devin Townsend, Anciients, Kittie and Striker.
Mother Mother's album Grief Chapter is nominated for Rock Album of the Year.
Previously, Spiritbox won Best International Live Artist at the 2024 Heavy Music Awards and was nominated for two Junos in 2022, among other awards and nominations. Mother Mother has also previously been nominated for the Junos.
The 2025 awards are set for March 30 at 5 p.m. PDT.
