MINDIL BEACH MARKETS is one two bands performing April 15 at the Bridge Lounge in Courtenay.

The Mindil Beach Markets and Arise are both making the journey up to Courtenay from Victoria to perform for the One Love: Party with a Purpose concert at the Bridge Lounge on April 15.

Arise will start the night with an hour set that will incorporate some well-known Bob Marley and Sublime songs along with the band’s original tunes.

Mindil Beach Markets are explosive, dynamic and original, and have discovered a blistering fusion of rock, reggae, hip hop, folk, funk and blues that is entirely their own. Their songs will leave you awash in sentiments ranging from love of the planet to love of a good party.

Daniel Kingsbury and Patrick Codere are nominated for the 2011 Vancouver Island Music Awards as Male Vocalist of the Year. The VIMAs are resuming in 2011 in Courtenay (June 23), as a component of the Vancouver Island Music Business Conference. MBM’s self-titled debut album was released in the winter of 2010 and there’s free downloadable songs at www.mindilbeachmarkets.com.

Lightburn Productions along with the Bridge Lounge will donate a portion of door sales from the event to the Japan Relief Fund and raffling off prizes throughout the night by donation.

Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 10 on Friday, April 15.

Tickets are $10 in advance at 133.

The Bridge Lounge is located at 90 Fifth St. in Courtenay.
