Three events this weekend will wind up this year's Mayworks Festival.
On Friday at 7 p.m., Words and Songs, hosted by Steve Harvey, will get underway at The Freakin' Coffeeshop.
This event is for musicians, poets, authors and readers.
In the relaxed atmosphere of this funky Tin Town establishment, you can share your latest poem, short story or song. Our "guest of honour" will be Harold Macy, who has a new book just out called Four Storey Forest.
On Saturday down in Errington, the Mayworks Mash Up will be brewing.
If you missed Tracy Myers at the Women and Work event, here is your chance to catch her amazing performance. Joining her will be labour singer Charlie Fox. Then get ready to kick up your heels to the dance music of Counting Time.
Admission is by donation at the door. The show starts at 7 p.m. at the Errington Hall (1390 Errington Rd).
Finally, on Sunday between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., it will be the second annual open house at the W.C. Friesen Sculpture Gardens.
Bill Friesen, a well-known local artist and Mayworks organizer, will host this garden party featuring a number of Vancouver Island artists, including Joe Rosenblatte, Jeff Hartbower and Pat Acton.
A mystery artist will be present who has a penchant for handing out free art.
There will be food and drink plus the music of the Kumbana Marimba Band. Door prizes will also be given out, and to top it off, admission is free.
Come to 5160 Gainsberg Rd. in Deep Bay (rain or shine) and enjoy a beautiful grove of trees filled with some stunning and whimsical sculptures and talk one-on-one to some local artists.
