Contra dancers will be kicking up their heels for this year's St. Paddy's day dance.

On March 15, everyone can be Irish for the night at the St. Paddy’s Contra dance in the Big Yellow Merville Hall. Paint the hall green, just for one night.

This family friendly event features the Funtime O’Fiddlers playing jigs and reels for the contra dances. No worry if you have no partner or don’t know how to Contra dance. Enjoy the luck of the Irish and take it up for the first time as there is a Contra workshop before the dancing begins.

At 7:30 p.m., the Funtime O’Fiddlers, fresh from kissing the Blarney Stone, will take to the stage and strike the first notes and let the gaiety begin. Singles can pair up with anyone during the Contras and our Contra sets last about 15 to 20 minutes. In between the called Contra dances, we’ll play waltzes, polkas and swing tunes.

Wear your best green outfits, see if you can win a Spot Dance prize and spend the night kicking up your heels. The luck of the Irish will flow through all at the dance. Especially with green music, green beer, green gills and green pickled eggs.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m., dancing starts at 7:30 p.m.. Cost is $10.00/adults, $5.00/youth (6 and under free) and you can come as a family for $22.00. The free workshop starts at 7:00 p.m..  For more information, email: seabankmars@shaw.ca.
