Get your tickets early to see the Evergreen Club’s Second Stage Players’ spring production of We Are Family, running on March 31 and April 1 at the Florence Filberg Centre.

We Are Family, co-written and co-directed by Betty Annand and Heather Rapin, will tickle your funny bone and warm your heart. Betty Annand has published history books and novels, in addition to many plays throughout her writing career. Now with We Are Family, Betty has injected her humour into a tale of a bunch of misfits, resulting in a knee-slapping story mingled with ah-inspiring moments.

The play opens with an introduction to the many interesting characters who live in a home together, such as Jack (Roy Storey), a concert violinist who carries around a violin without strings, and a washed-up movie actress (Pat Shipley), who longs for the accolades of her fans in Hollywood.

Everything changes when a powerful philanthropist (Phil Parmley) comes onto the scene, but he is the one who needs help. For the first time, the residents are united for an important cause and their home will never be the same.

Tickets for We Are Family are $10 and available at the Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton Avenue, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. If there are any tickets left, they will be available at the door. Refreshments will be provided. Both performances are matinees, Sunday, March 31 at 3 p.m., and Monday, April 1 at 1:30 p.m.
