Next house concert offers Celtic Chaos

March 5 is the date for another monthly house concert in Merville, this time featuring Celtic Chaos, a band of traditional musicians from the Qualicum Beach area.

March 5 is the date for another monthly house concert in Merville, this time featuring Celtic Chaos, a band of traditional musicians from the Qualicum Beach area.

The group consists of Dave Barta on accordion, Emma Beaton on cello, Joyce Beaton on fiddle and les pieds, Jane Good on percussion, and Gordon Lafleur on Irish wooden flute and pennywhistle.

The band plays energetic reels and jigs from Scotland, Ireland and Cape Breton, mournful Gaelic airs, Swedish and Appalachian tunes, and French-Canadian dance tunes. They have produced several CDs over the last few years, and the youngest member, cello player Emma Beaton, has toured with her own band of young talents, Joy Kills Sorrow.

If you love traditional Celtic music, this is the concert for you. Being a house concert, it will be held in a private home, so seating is limited (and unfortunately, you’ll have to dance in — or on —- your chairs!).

Tickets include hot drinks and a bountiful dessert buffet, so all in all it will be a wonderful evening out, enjoying great music and food in the intimate atmosphere of a large living room.

Tickets are $20, $10 for children, and must be reserved in advance. For more information and to reserve tickets, call 250-337-5337.
