Courtenay Little Theatre presents 鈥楳yth of the Ostrich鈥�, written by Toronto playwright, Matt Murray, will soon land at the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay. This comedic play sold out at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2014 and has since toured all across Canada. 

The premise of the play opens in a Toronto basement suite occupied by Holly, a single mom to Jodi. Pam soon arrives on the scene unannounced to confront Jodi about an inappropriate letter her son has received from Jodi. The pleasant visit quickly becomes a bizarre roller coaster ride of misunderstandings. Further throwing a wrench in the visit is the arrival of Holly鈥檚 best friend, Cheryl, a filter-less Newfoundlander.

Directing 鈥楳yth of the Ostrich鈥� is Kirstin Humpherys who has cast three remarkable actors in this comedy. 

鈥淲hen I first read this play I laughed out loud, which doesn鈥檛 happen  often! I knew I wanted to direct it,鈥� shared Humphreys. 

Erin Malin, who plays mom Holly, shared that she 鈥淟oves how this play explores parenting, teen relationships and drugs.鈥�

Nicole Bergot, who brings Pam to life, says 鈥渢his hilarious play about moms is really about the hopes and fears of parenting and finding friendships in unlikely places.鈥� 

Laura Marshall, who plays Cheryl the outspoken Newfie, believes that 鈥楳yth  of the Ostrich鈥� 鈥渇ocuses on the humanity of these very different women.鈥�  

鈥楳yth of the Ostrich鈥� comes to the Sid Williams Theatre from April 7 to 12.
