Music lovers in the Comox Valley have a treat in store on Saturday, Jan. 25, as the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre (CYMC) presents a CYMC faculty and alumni event full of Classical and Big Band music at The Little Red Church (2182 Comox Avenue).
The event, hosted by the Georgia Straight Jazz Society, promises an inspiring afternoon of music featuring the Georgia Strait Big Band, alongside CYMC Classical alumni and special guests Kathryn Wiebe and Erin Tinney.
This community-driven fundraiser supports CYMC’s programs, which provide world-class music education to young musicians. The concert will showcase a rich blend of classical and jazz performances, bringing together celebrated local talent and alumni who have honed their skills through CYMC’s programs. Audience members can look forward to renditions of beloved classical pieces and jazzy favourites, delivered with passion and artistry.
This concert is a testament to the talent and dedication of our alumni, faculty, and supporters. It’s a unique opportunity to experience exceptional live music while supporting youth music education and community programs.
The event takes place at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.. TIckets are $20 at the door, cash only, and all proceeds from this event will directly benefit CYMC’s youth music programs and St. George’s community initiatives, making it a meaningful way to support the arts and the local community.
