On Sunday, Feb. 18, from 7:30–10 p.m., John Reischman, the grand master of the mandolin, will be rocking the Big Yellow Merville hall with his hot band, the Jaybirds.
From his 1980 days in California with the original Tony Rice Unit, John has dazzled audiences across the globe with dozens of mesmerizing original compositions played with great power, taste and gorgeous tone on his rare, and mighty, 1924 “Lloyd Loar” Gibson mandolin.
Many of his dozens of original instrumentals have become popular favourites for sessions and covers, such as the jam standard Saltspring.
