Have you been craving the thrill and joy of witnessing live community music-making?
Well, never fear, choir concert season is here! The three Just in Time Choirs will be performing at the Comox Pentecostal Church on Saturday, Dec. 4 with two shows: a matinée at 2 p.m. and an evening show at 7 p.m.
The theme this year is the “Totally Awesome ’80s” - yes, the decade of shoulder pads, big hair, leg warmers, and some really radical music. Just in Time’s musical director, the immensely talented Wendy Nixon Stothert, has put together a collection of some tubular tunes from the ’80s that are representative of the decade’s best music, including songs from Hall & Oates, U2, George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, and more.
Performing in the show will be the two auditioned groups, the Jems (all women) and Vocal Minority (men and women), in addition to the beloved Unplugged, JiT’s “everyone welcome” ensemble. The choirs will be accompanied by an incredible trio of musicians - the fantastic Sean Mooney on piano, along with popular local musical couple, Britt Bowman (bass) and Oscar Robles Diaz (drums).
Tickets are $20/adult and $10/12 years old and under, and available online only for this show, at
The QR code on one of the concert posters around town can also be scanned to link directly to the ticket page. With the safety and comfort of the audience in mind first and foremost, seating is limited to 150 seats per show, to allow for spacing. That means act quickly: if there happen to be seats available, tickets may be available at the door, but no guarantees.
All performers are double-vaccinated. Everyone attending will be required to produce proof of vaccination for scanning at the door (vaccine card plus picture ID) at the door, before entering. Singers will be wearing masks and the audience will be required to as well. There will be no intermission and the show will be about 90 minutes.
Come on out for Just in Time’s Totally Awesome ’80s blast from the past! The singers have been working hard to create a show that will be enjoyed by all ages and are looking forward to performing for you. See you at the Comox Pentecostal Church on Dec. 4.
