Calling all kids, calling all kids. Be on the lookout for a canine crime fighter with a penchant for chewing on furniture.

Get ready to howl with laughter at Dog Man: The Musical on Wednesday, Oct. 25 in Courtenay.

The show is presented by the Sid Williams Theatre Society as part of the Centre Stage Series.

In this epic adventure, Dog Man – a heroic figure with the head of a dog and body of a man – tries to save a city under siege from the nefarious Flippy, a cyborg fish, and his army of menacing Beasty Buildings. And that’s not all – he also needs to outsmart Petey, the world’s most evil cat, who has cloned himself for one purpose: revenge.

Will the doggy do-gooder prevail?

Will he stop eating the couch in time to rescue the city? Audiences will find out at two special performances.

“People of all ages will enjoy this hilarious production from TheaterWorksUSA,” said general manager Deborah Renz. “Adapted from the beloved books by Dav Pilkey, they’ve transformed his bestselling series into a delightful theatrical journey.

“Not only is the New York touring company top-notch, but the Sid Williams Theatre Society is especially excited to bring to the Valley an arts organization that’s been dedicated to providing young people access to the theatre arts for more than 50 years.”

Since 1961, the TheaterWorksUSA has captured the imaginations of 100 million new and veteran theatregoers with an award-winning repertoire of more than 140 original plays and musicals.

With story and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila and music by Brad Alexander, the high-energy production comes to life under the direction and choreography of Jen Wineman. The page-to-stage work has garnered glowing reviews, even from the original creator.

Dog Man: The Musical surpasses my highest expectations. It is the perfect mash-up of memorable music, humour and love,” noted Pilkey, also the author of the famed Captain Underpants series.

Don’t miss out on this unforgettable experience for the whole family on Wednesday, Oct. 25, when the Sid Williams Theatre comes alive with performances at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The non-stop 70-minute show guarantees a tail-wagging good time on this voyage into the whirlwind world of Dog Man.

Please note, theatrical devices such as water-based fog and haze are used in this production.
