Courtenay's newest entertainment destination

The Flying Canoe West Coast Pub is becoming Courtenay’s newest entertainment destination.

The Flying Canoe West Coast Pub is becoming Courtenay’s newest entertainment destination.

Since opening in March of this year they have featured top-notch local artists such as Sue Medley, Emily Spiller, Luke Blu Guthrie, Todd Butler, Livy Jeanne, Doug Deep, Susie McGregor and Doug Folkins.

Pub manager Willie Elder feels blessed to have such a large pool of local musicians right on his doorstep and to be able to work so closely with these amazing artists.

“The ambience in the Flying Canoe is the perfect venue to showcase live entertainment as the classic West Coast décor allows the artists to express themselves in the same atmosphere in which the music was inspired!”

The pub will feature live entertainment every Friday and Saturday in June with the return of artists such as Emily Spiller and Doug Deep for solo performances and welcoming a first-time performance by the Suttcliffes, A West Coast Homage to the Beatles on June 4.

The hotel will be a major sponsor of the Vancouver Island Music Business Conference from June 22 through 26 and will showcase entertainers on the Friday and Saturday nights (see www.vimbc.com for a complete listing)

The popular An Evening of Conversation and Songs with Sue Medley and Special Guests will continue on Thursday evenings and you will see even more first-class talent such as Todd Butler, Angela Harris and Keisja Cox; who will be performing her new debut single.

Check out the website flyingcanoe.ca or Facebook page for full information on both their ticketed and non-ticketed events.
