On Oct. 25, Doc Fingers and Anela Kahiamoe will come together to perform for the first time since the 1980’s for a fundraising concert.
The concert, dubbed “Comin’ Home,” will raise money for the Comox Valley Food Bank and St. George’s United Church.
Doc Fingers is a highly acclaimed piano player while Kahiamoe is known as a ‘master of strings.’ Doc FIngers has played with some big names such as Chuck Berry, Kris Kristofferson, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Frank Zappa, Rita Coolidge, Bo Didley, Jim Byrnes and Stevie Winwood. He performs genres from jazz, piano bar standards all the way to blues.
Kahiamoe is known to many throughout the Comox Valley. His band has opened for Fleetwood Mac; Earth, Wind & Fire; Huey Lewis & The News; and many others. After moving to Canada in he early 2000’s, he became a solo artist who often shares his Hawaiian stories and songs with audiences. He has also performed at Vancouver Island Music Fest.
After years of travelling with their music, both musicians now call the Comox Valley home.
St. George’s raises funds through a variety of events during the year to benefit local non-profits. In 2023, the church donated more than $40,000 to community groups, including Habitat for Humanity, LUSH, the Comox Valley Food Bank, the Coldest Night of the Year, the Comox Valley Child Development Association and the Transition Society.
