After a long and challenging 18 months, The Celebration Singers and the Grace Notes are thrilled to be performing again.

“Maybe This Christmas ” is set to go with two shows on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at St. George’s Church, 505 6th St. in Courtenay.

“We have certainly been living in a world of ‘maybes,’ but one thing is for certain, music can bring us together and serve to soothe our wounds,” said Sheila Doncaster in a press release. “As we rebuild our choir community we could not be more aware of the healing power of music.”

Join Jenn Forsland, Sean Mooney and the choirs as they present a delightful program of music for the season. Gordon Lightfoot’s Song for a Winter’s Night and the upbeat version of Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree arranged by Kirby Shaw are just a couple of the selections from the Celebration Singers’ repertoire.

The Grace Notes will perform other beautiful numbers including an engaging arrangement of Bring a Torch Jeannette Isabella arranged by Sarah J Smith and the jazzy Swinging St. Nick arranged by Greg Gilpin.

The choirs will be joined by a very talented trio of musicians: John Hyde on bass, and for the first time Rick Husband on guitar and Corijn De Roo on percussion.

In-person tickets are available at Blue Heron Books, Comox and House of Color, Courtenay. Tickets for both the in-person and the first-ever livestream of the shows are also available online at

All audience members attending in person must present proof of vaccination and wear a mask.

“Whichever way you choose to attend, we hope you will join us to celebrate our return to the stage,” said Doncaster. “Let the Celebration Singers Community Choirs shine the light of joy and the hope of peace into your hearts this holiday season.”
