A big band triple bill to raise money for the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre is being held on Oct. 29 at Crown Isle Resort in Courtenay.

Oceanside’s Arrowsmith Big Band, Comox Valley’s Georgia Strait Big Band and special guests, the 18-person Midnight Blue Jazz Band from Calgary will provide the entertainment, with Nick Lariviere MCing the event.

Lariviere is an internationally acclaimed trombonist, composer and arranger, singer-songwriter and his musical talent will be on full display as he accompanies each band with a selection of trombone solos.

“This is both an ‘event’ and a ‘celebration’ of big band music and I am thrilled to be part of this special presentation,” said Lariviere.

Utilizing the big screens all tunes will have videos and pictures honouring the greats such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington and others.

These three big bands are being brought together to raise funds for The Comox Valley Youth Music Centre (CYMC) an organization that has been dedicated to inspiring and teaching youth in the Comox Valley through their summer intensive music programs.

The performance is from 2-4 p.m. at the main ballroom at Crown Isle Resort. Tickets are $25 and are available online at eventbrite or at the door (cash only).
