Check out some of Tracy Kobus鈥檚 recent giclee prints at Bean Around the World at 2104 Cliffe Ave., Courtenay, showing now through to mid-March.

Kobus has been working as a professional artist in the Comox Valley for the past 20 years. In her recognizable and bold painting style, she finds new ways to invite the viewer into her landscapes. Lately, she has been experimenting with unusual perspectives, sofas in outdoor settings and night scenes where campfires or tents actually seem to be glowing.

In a recent painting, 鈥淟iving Room,鈥� a red couch surrounded by mountains symbolizes how we find togetherness or comfort within an unpredictable or inhospitable setting 鈥� a reference to the past couple years coping with COVID-19 and climate change.

Kobus sells her popular art cards and giclees at gift shops around Vancouver Island and beyond as well in her online shop. Her original acrylic paintings usually sell quickly so she appreciates the option of using locally made reproductions so her artwork is accessible to more people. She also donates prints to various local fundraisers. If she is not painting, snowboarding or mountain-biking, Kobus is also teaching drawing classes at the Lupine Art Studio in Courtenay.
