Shake off your mental cobwebs and get ready to show off your brainy best next Friday when the Cumberland Community Forest Society (CCFS) hosts a special spring session of their now-infamous CCFS trivia event.

The evening includes a no-host bar, tasty treats, a tonne of awesome door prizes and the winning team walks away with the esteemed title of Spring Trivia Champion and some very cool prizes contributed from local businesses, artists, musicians and other supporters in the community.

Teams of eight can register in advance but if you don't have a team, just show up anyways and the CCFS will find you one.

The cost if $10 per person. Quizmaster Roger Albert is cooking up some questions that will be certain to challenge and amuse!

All proceeds from CCFS trivia events go towards to purchase of forest lands surrounding the Village of Cumberland.

These trails are filled with biking and hiking trails and rich flora and fauna. The CCFS goal is to purchase as much as 650 acres of forest on Cumberland's southwest boundary from private owners to protect it from being logged.

In 2005, the first and second parcels of forest, totalling over 170 acres, were purchased for approximately $1 million. They were given to the Village of Cumberland with conservation covenants attached to them, and they now form a wilderness park called the Cumberland Community Forest.

These acquisitions represent an enormous community achievement but there is still much to do and monthly mortgage payments are paid by the Society with the support of monthly donors and fundraising events like this one.

Call your buddies and put your team together. Doors at the Cumberland Cultural Centre open at 6:30 on April 29 and the games begin at 7 p.m. sharp.
