Senior service moves to new Comox locale

Senior Peer Counselling has moved to join Seniors Services Under One Roof in Comox.

Senior peer Counselling is a B.C. charitable organization that started in the Comox Valley in 1991, having been established in Victoria in 1984.

It is a free service provided by trained senior volunteers who offer guidance and support to seniors who are troubled by loneliness, isolation from family and friends, loss of a loved one, inter-generational conflicts and life changes such as reduced mobility or dementia.

Senior Peer Counselling’s objectives are to meet the needs of seniors in our valley, especially where there is a gap in service delivery and as a result we now offer seven different programs, several with a specific focus on caregivers and those with dementia.

One of our most popular programs is the Outings Program, which takes lonely seniors on outings in our community, concluding with coffee and snacks. This provides an opportunity for human interaction and stimulation.

Manager Linda is available in the mornings from Mondays to Thursdays. She can assist you in trying to meet your needs as a volunteer or client.

For more information, call Senior Peer Counselling at 250-890-0099 or e-mail cvspcl@gmail.com.

The services provided at the new location (2202E Comox Ave.) are:

• Caring for You Today;

• Delaney Relocation Services;

• Island Foot Care;

• Senior Peer Counselling;

• Serenity Estate Services;

• Solutions for Seniors;

• Valley home Meals.

The phone number for these services, excluding Senior Peer Counselling, is 250-339-1188.
