Do you love the music of the 1950s and ’60s?

Well, we have a treat for you. Come on out for the Rock and Roll Revival, an Evergreen Event, on Sunday, May 26 at 2 p.m. in the upper Florence Filberg Centre Conference Hall.

In the memory of Ken MacLeod, the show must go on! Ken wanted another ’50s and ’60s show this year due to the tremendous success of last year’s show. Sadly, Ken passed away last December - but his tradition lives on.

The Ken MacLeod Singers, formerly known as the Jacqueline Lambeth Singers, will be returning to entertain the audience with doo-wop and Motown.

The group features the fine vocals and harmonies of Heather Sprout (also sings for Celtic Thyme), Heather Rapin, Maureen Faust, June Munro, Holly Davidson and Jacqueline Lambeth, a vocal teacher in Courtenay.

They will be accompanied by Kelly Thomas, a well-known musician and piano instructor in the Valley who has often played the keys for the Georgia Strait Band and the Platitudes.

Erik Eriksson, who performs in Gloria Herauf’s Have a Heart concert every year, will be gracing our stage with his own way to rock and his own way to roll. Erik rocks the piano, and you think you will be going back into time with his renditions of songs like Great Balls of Fire and Stand By Me.

For the first time ever, Nicole Fifi will be performing two of her favourite songs, Blue Moon and The End of the World. Nicole was a lead singer for Fifth Avenue, a rock band that performed in many venues in Manitoba, and she is happy to share her singing talents with the Comox Valley.

Gerry Bullen sings like Frank Sinatra and will be crooning out songs like Mack the Knife and That’s Life.

You will be enchanted by the music and humour of Greg DeSchutter, a well-known singer and entertainer who has appeared in a number of shows in the community.

Roy Storey will tickle your funny bone with a comic song and his dramatic cameos with Pat Shipley.

There will be an area set aside for anyone who wishes to get up and dance to the music. You may even want to dig out your poodle skirt and saddle shoes!

Tickets are only $10 and are available from the Florence Filberg Centre’s office at 411 Anderton Ave. in Courtenay during business hours.

Call (250) 338-1000).

Tickets will also be available at the door. Coffee and tea will be served during intermission
