Comox Valley Dragon Boat Society, known as the cancer survivor dragon boat team Hope Afloat Canada, proudly presented a donation to the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation earlier this month, extending a legacy of giving that spans more than two decades. Funds raised through Hope Afloat’s recent bottle drive continue their tradition of support, with contributions now totaling over $42,600 in vital funding for Cancer Care and Palliative Care in the Comox Valley.

Hope Afloat Canada members, primarily cancer survivors themselves, demonstrate remarkable resilience both on and off the water. Their fundraising efforts are a testament to their commitment to healthcare support in the local community and exemplify the power of collective strength in giving back.

"Hope Afloat members are true heroes in every sense," said Lauren Klaus, Director Donor Relations at the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation. "Their support over the years has profoundly impacted the lives of patients and families facing cancer, offering comfort and critical resources. This latest donation underscores their unwavering dedication to compassionate care in our community."

The funds raised by Hope Afloat will continue to support services and resources that ensure quality care and comfort for patients and their families. The team’s efforts reflect a spirit of courage and community, serving as an inspiration to the Comox Valley and beyond.
