Over 530 participants, including more than 80 cancer survivors, attended the recent Saturday night 12-hour Relay For Life in the Comox Valley at the Vanier track.

It was an incredibly emotional experience which kicked off with a Celebration Victory Lap with cancer survivors and their caregivers. Plenty of music followed for the next four hours thanks to Helen Austin, Fiddlejam and The Beautiful Losers. As the evening settled into dusk, the Remember Ceremony saw the lighting of hundreds of luminaries to honour those still battling cancer, and to remember so many loved ones lost.

In the morning, participants vowed to keep up the fight all year long against this terrible disease.

The community came together in an inspiring way and kept up the energy all night long. Many thanks to the 49 team captains who worked so hard to make the event a success.

The top fundraising team is Ladies Who Fight, which raised $36,717.55.

Congratulations to the Mark Isfeld Secondary graduating class who collectively raised $36,380.93.

The top fundraiser is Calvin Cotton who raised $4,625.

A sincere thank you to all who supported Relay For Life in the Comox Valley. See you in 2018.
