Pictured here with club president, Keith Tatton (right), the Rotary Club of Cumberland Centennial is promoting World Immunization Week April 24-30 by painting their pinkies purple.
In countries where polio is a threat, children’s pinkie fingers are marked with purple ink after they are immunized. This helps health workers know which children have been protected. Vaccines save lives and the effort to end polio is proof that vaccines work. Through the global fight to end polio, Rotary and its partners have protected more than 2.5 billion children from polio. Because of their work and the efforts of tens of thousands of health workers polio will one day soon be a distant memory. For more information visit
