Operation Freedom Paws Canada is hosting a fundraising event on Aug. 19 to help support veterans, RCMP, First Responders and others with PTSD and other complex traumas.

Paws for Summer Beer & Burger will take place at the OFP Canine Training Centre, at 403 Holiday Road, Fanny Bay, from 4:30-7 p.m.

This event is open to members of the community. Tickets are still available for $20 and include a burger, local beer or wine, doughnut, snacks, and door prizes.

A silent auction is being held, and advance bidding is available online at

Tickets for the event are on the same website.

Paws for Summer Beer & Burgers is OFPC’s first fundraising event, supporting our program helping veterans, first responders, RCMP, children and youths with PTSD, psychological trauma, and medical alert diabetes by training them to train a rescue dog for their specific support needs. This partnership is the start of empowering people to get back out in their communities, feel safe, manage their day-to-day lives, and begin to view their future with renewed hope.

For those who qualify, the program is free of charge to remove barriers for those who need it. OFPC is actively seeking donors to cover the program costs. Program participants come from all over Vancouver Island, as well as a few from the Lower Mainland and Alberta.
